Services are available in UV-visible absorption spectrophotometry and fluorescence spectroscopy. Three instruments are currently available and located in Laboratory 508 at ICN:
- Varian Cary 100 Bio UV-visible spectrophotometer, equipped with a Varian Cary temperature controller and a Peltier-thermostated multi-cell holder
- SAFAS UVmc2 UV-visible spectrophotometer
- HORIBA FluoroMax-4 spectrofluorometer, equiped with a JULABO recirculating cooler
A range of measurements and applications can be performed:
- Recording of absorption spectra (190–900 nm) and excitation and emission spectra (290–850 nm)
- Absorbance measurements
- Determination of fluorescence quantum yields (relative measurements using a reference standard)
- Kinetic measurements, for example for monitoring enzyme kinetics
