Our research focuses on the development of original molecular approaches in the fields of fluorogenic detection, phototherapy, and bioconjugation. Specifically, we design "smart" chemical tools (most often photoactive molecular probes) whose desired function is unveiled on demand upon exposure to a well-defined stimulus characteristic of the targeted application. Over the past few years, we have designed, synthesized, and validated high-performance fluorogenic probes for applications in in vitro diagnostics, in vivo imaging, molecular theranostics, environmental analysis, and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) risk management. These research activities are closely linked to methodological developments, including the synthesis of novel organic fluorophores and activatable photosensitizers, as well as the development of new biocompatible chemical reactions. Our core areas of expertise include organic synthesis, chemistry of biomolecules (oligonucleotides and peptides), bioconjugation, molecular photophysics, analytical chemistry, and the development of enzyme-based assays.
